Eligibility Selection
PROCEDURE FOR APPOINTMENT, MEDICAL EXAMINATION, TRAINING FOR TRAFFIC WARDENS

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
  Any Indian Citizen male or female.
  Resident of Chennai either self employed or employed.
  Aged between 25 & 45 years at time of application.
  Graduate of a recognized university.
  Must possess a valid driving licence & must have in possession a two/four wheeler.
  Income Tax Asessee with P A N card.
  No political affiliation nor member of any political parties.
  Physically fit.
  Be willing & able to render voluntary & non-remunerative services to the Government, through the Traffic Warden     Organisation.
  Be in a position to purchase at his own cost, his uniforms, equipments & badges.
  Unblemished record & must not have been convicted by any court of law.
  Should not be an officer of any regular or auxiliary military unit or essential services or hold any honorary rank.

SELECTION BOARD
  The Selection Board (hereinafter referred to as ”The Board”) shall be constituted by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic      / D S P (Traffic) & shall consist of the following officer’s :-
     a.) Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic / D S P (Traffic).
     b.) Chief Traffic Warden.
  The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic / D S P (Traffic) shall have powers to co-opt other person or persons as members of      the board.
  The board shall sit from time to time at such time & place as may be directed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic/DSP      (Traffic).
  No person shall be appointed as a Traffic Warden unless he / she has been recommended for appointment by the board.

MEDICAL EXAMINATION
  The board shall have powers to reject any candidate without assigning any reasons & it’s decision shall remain final.

  The board may at its discretion direct any applicant to undergo a medical examination by a medical officer as may be appointed      for the purpose by the Deputy Commissioner of Police / D S P (Traffic).

OATH
  No person shall be appointed as a Traffic Warden unless, before such appointment, such person has made & subscribed     before the Commissioner of Police, or officer appointed by him on that behalf, an oath of affirmation in the form laid down by     the Commissioner of Police.

APPOINTMENT CERTIFICATE
  A person shall, on being appointed as a Traffic Warden, receive a Certificate of Appointment in the prescribed format.

APPLICANTS TO BEAR THEIR OWN EXPENSES
  No applicant for the post of Traffic Warden shall be entitled to payment of any expenses for appearing at any interview or for     anything required to be done by him / her in connection with his / her application for appointment.

INDUCTION & TRAINING
  The Traffic Wardens’ on appointment shall undergo induction training for about 25 hours spread over a period of 15-20 days.
  The training shall be imparted by the Officer’s of the Traffic Department or by the Officer’s delegated by the D C P / S P.
  No traffic warden shall be deployed for road duties unless he completes the induction training& is placed in a range as decided      by the Chief Traffic Warden or his representatives.
